The population of Cape Verde is estimated at 491,233 inhabitants in 2021. About 273,988 (56%) live on the island of Santiago. Being 50,2% male and 49,8% female.

Emigration is characteristic of the Cape Verdean people, it is estimated that there are more than one million Cape Verdeans living in the diaspora, most of them in the United States.
